Since beginning practice in 1982, Mr. Speegle has focused his practice on General Litigation, Real Property Law, Commercial Law, Environmental Law, Probate Law, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Taxation.
PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES
Mr. Speegle was Co-Author of “Lien Creditor Status Under the UCC – Does the FDIC Qualify?”, 16 Uniform Commercial Code Law Journal 13, 1983. He also was a Director of the Executive Advisory Council for the Auburn University Economic Development Institute from 1992 until 1997. Mr. Speegle was a member of the Advisory Board for Compass Bank from 1996 until 2003, and was reappointed to this Board in December of 2018. He is currently a member of the Mobile Bar Association and Alabama State Bar.

RECENT SIGNIFICANT RESULTS
Arbitration before Retired Judge Robert Smith, Mobile, Alabama – Eaton G. Barnard v Andrew T. Citrin and Andy Citrin Injury Attorneys, P.C., 02-CV-2020-901219. Judgement awarded in favor of our clients, Defendants, Andy Citrin Injury Attorneys, P.C. in the amount of $589,536.83.
U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Alabama, 21-10038, our firm represented the bankruptcy Trustee in the case of Jason R. Dyken, Debtor. Favorable settlement for the Trustee and other Defendants in the amount of $1.8 million.
In the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, Larry Wireman et al., v Park National Corporation, et al. 20-14096 (on appeal from USDC for Southern District of Alabama 19-CV-01068). Favorable judgment for our client, Park National, affirming the dismissal of Plaintiff’s contract and fraud claims.
In the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, SLF Holdings, LLC v John P. Fletcher, et al.. 20-3427 (on appeal from USDC for District of Delaware 19-cv-01813), favorable judgment for Defendants-Appellees, affirming the dismissal of Plaintiff’s claims, including fraud claims and securities law claims (Plaintiff claimed $65 million in compensatory damages plus punitive damages). Our client was John P. Fletcher, former general counsel for Windstream Holdings, Inc.
Cieutat, Ronald D., et al. v Eli Global, et al. Circuit Court of Mobile County, Alabama award of $11,435,334.73 ($9,760,000 in compensatory damages, $1,450,989.60 in accrued interest and $224,345.13 in attorneys’ fees and expenses) plus ongoing interest; affirmed by the Alabama Supreme Court. Eli Global, LLC v Cieutat, 2023 Ala. Lexis 134, 2023 WL 8291704, (Ala. Dec. 1, 2023). We represented the Plaintiffs.
